UnipolSai supports 24th National Food Collection Day: new form, same substance

UnipolSai Assicurazioni is once again supporting Banco Alimentare for the charity initiative that has enjoyed the highest level of participation in Italy for the last 24 years: : National Food Collection Day.An event which this year will last for more than one day and undergo “dematerialisation”: in fact, for safety reasons it won’t be possible to physically donate food shopping at supermarkets. Food shopping donations will be collected in the form of Cards rather than in boxes.

For 18 days, from 21 November to 8 December, it will be possible to purchase Banco Alimentare gift cards at the checkouts of Italian supermarkets participating in the collection and online at www.mygiftcard.it.

The Food Collection will nonetheless have its own symbolic day on Saturday 28 November when, again for health safety reasons, a small percentage of the customary 145,000 Banco Alimentare volunteers will be present in 11,000 supermarkets across Italy to remind shoppers of the possibility of making donations via the gift cards.

At the end of the collection, the total value of all of the cards purchased will be converted into non-perishable foods like peeled tomatoes, legumes, baby food, oil, tinned fish and meat and other staple products. Everything will be delivered to the regional offices of the Banco Alimentare and distributed in the usual ways to the approx. 8,000 partner charity organisations which support over 2.1 million people.
