Shared Value creation
The Unipol Group decided to measure the economic value of its non-financial impacts, just as it did for the 2019-2021 period. This involved identifying specific areas in which its strategy, aimed at sustainability and the creation of shared value, generates positive social, economic and environmental impacts and defining (in collaboration with The European House-Ambrosetti) a model that calculates the value produced by these impacts in economic terms.
This assessment was not only carried out with a view to the past; the 2021 data was used as a baseline to plan the value the Group is expected to produce thanks to the activities of the 2022–2024 Strategic Plan.
These non-financial impacts are measured at closure and are subject to the specific objectives of the 2022-2024 Strategic Plan, closely linked to the Group’s strategy and associated with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda.
In addition to the data related to the total economic value, a composite index for measuring shared value has been defined, which makes it possible to attribute balanced weight to the activities that generate positive social, economic and environmental impacts, not just considering the resulting monetary aspects.
The Strategic Plan Opening New Ways 2022-2024 enhances the impetus of Unipol to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development objectives by leveraging the Group's assets and through its business areas aimed at developing new opportunities and tackling new challenges. The core of the strategy is to understand, manage and monitor the impacts, risks and opportunities related to environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues across our insurance and non-insurance value chain, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN 2030 Agenda.
At the end of the Three-Year Plan, it has been estimated that, through the impact areas identified, the activities of Unipol Gruppo will be able to generate the production of 28 billion euros of shared value.
