Culturability: the final results of the fourth edition
The 5 winning projects of the Culturability call for tenders, each of which will receive 50,000 euro and the chance to take part in a guidance and mentoring course, are: Evocava by Mazara del Vallo (Trapani), FaRo – Fabbrica dei saperi by Rosarno (Reggio Calabria), L’Asilo by Naples, Lottozero / textile laboratories by Prato, MET – Meticceria Extrartistica Trasversale by Bologna.
They were chosen from the 429 projects submitted from all over Italy in response to the call for tenders issued by the Unipolis Foundation aimed at supporting innovative cultural projects with strong social impact that regenerate and revive abandoned or underused spaces. Empty historic buildings, abandoned factories, underused commercial spaces, closed cultural spaces and forgotten natural heritage given new life, reborn as cultural venues and communal spaces: these are the challenges launched by the 5 initiatives.
For the 2017 edition of the Culturability tender the Unipolis Foundation has allocated a total of 400,000 euro, comprising financial contributions for the development of the selected projects, support activities for the empowerment of the 15 finalist teams and the subsequent mentoring of the 5 winners, and expenses for participating in the support activities. Once again, this year’s call was developed in collaboration with Avanzi/Make a Cube³ and the Fitzcarraldo Foundation. In recent years the results of the previous three tenders were excellent in terms of participating projects and the quality of the proposals, as demonstrated by the success of the supported businesses, which continue along their development paths. Overall, the Unipolis Foundation has invested 1.5 million euro in the four editions of the initiative with over 2,770 projects taking part.
Attached is a summary of all of the selected projects.
